SOHH got the producer’s take on French’s rapid rise to stardom recently.
Dame Grease gave his take on French Montana’s seeming overnight success in a candid interview with the news site. The veteran producer said that it was important not to ease up once things started going well, and he confirmed that French Montana has worked hard for his position within the rap game. He likened the situation to his own career, and his work with rapper, DMX.
"Nah, I'm not surprised at all [by his recent success]. When you work for it, and you grind, you know what you're getting. There's still a long way to go, let's not get it twisted, but when you work and you grind, it's a long way to go," Grease said, describing French Montana’s grind.
"Look at me and DMX. We've been in the trenches and the basement doing music, we've been on DJ Clue's mixtapes doing music, he got signed to Def Jam and been on the f*cking American Music Awards. It's about those levels and you've got to keep going and going."
Montana has been getting a significant amount of radio play of late, as well as inking a deal with P. Diddy’s Bad Boy Records.
