Yo! Raps has learned that on July 24, Get On Down Records will collaborate with Wu-Tang Clan rapper GZA and Geffen Records to release a deluxe 2 CD box set of his classic album, Liquid Swords, which was originally released in November 1995.
Liquid Swords is considered to be one of the greatest Wu-Tang solo albums of all time and featured the single Cold World. In recent years, GZA has talked about releasing a new album and many have speculated it would be the sequel to Liquid Swords, which was the artist's first and only top 10 album.
The re-release of the album will include a bonus disc of the instrumentals, produced almost entirely by RZA. 20 pages of GZA's liner notes will also be included in the set as well a full working chess set inspired by lyrics from the album, Complex reports.
Get On Down Records has previously teamed up with Wu-Tang Clan member Ghostface Killah for the re-issues of his albums Ironman and Supreme Clientelle. The record company also released a box set of Wu-Tang member Ol' Dirty Bastard's album Return To The 36 Chambers. Ol' Dirty Bastard died in November 2004.
It was recently reported that members of the Wu-Tang Clan would star as themselves in the biopic of ODB's life, Ol' Dirty White Boy, which will star The Wire's Michael K. Williams as the deceased rapper, but representatives for both GZA and Raekwon have said that either rapper will appear in the film.
