Kardinal Offishall reminisced recently about his early opinion of Drake.
The Candadian rapper revealed that he told producer and R&B singer, Akon, that Drizzy would be a star.
In an interview with MTV News, he explained that he saw Drake’s star potential at an early stage. Kardinal said that he had advised Akon to sign the fellow Toronto native.
"The biggest one that he passed on, I told him about Drake early," he revealed, speaking about Akon. "I said, 'Kon, this kid is a T.V. star... and this kid is crazy.'"
Kardinal Offishall also spoke briefly on his first meeting with Drake, before the Canadian rapper was famous. Chiefly, he said that it was Drake’s hunger for success which he remembered.
"I had met him years before he started with his first mixtape," said Offishall. "The thing that's dope about Drake is that I remember, like he was just hungry because he wanted to make that transition from the acting to the rapping."
Kardinal revealed that he could not resist telling Akon, "I told you so," following Drake’s success.
"After he blew [with So Far Gone], I went back and said, 'See Kon, I told you,'" he said. "But it's one of those things that worked out beautifully for Drake with YMCMB. He's got a good camp."
