Popular rapper PnB Rock was shot at Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles restaurant in the Inglewood neighborhood of Los Angeles on Monday (September 12).
Los Angeles Police Department Captain Kelly Muniz confirmed that a shooting occurred at the restaurant at 1:23 p.m. PT along with a possible robbery. Though Muniz did not name the rapper, video and witnesses named the victim as PnB Rock. The “I Like Girls” rapper was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital around 1:59 p.m. local time. He was 30 years old.
A tweet from reporter Philip Lewis read, “Breaking: PnB Rock has reportedly died after he was fatally shot during a robbery at the Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles restaurant in South Los Angeles.”
PnB Rock — real name Rakim Allen — was at Roscoe’s with his girlfriend named Stephanie Sibounheuang who in a since-deleted Instagram post had shared a location-tagged photo. The couple shares a 2-year-old daughter Xuri. Once the suspects got to the restaurant, Muniz said they brandished a firearm inside the restaurant and demanded jewelry from the Philadelphia rapper. A graphic video of the aftermath of the shooting shows the rapper alive but severely injured.
“[The suspect] shot the victim and ran out the side door to a getaway car and then fled the parking lot,” Muniz said.
Los Angeles Police Department investigators are said to be examining security footage from inside the restaurant to identify the shooter and establish whether they fled on foot or in a vehicle.
