With the renewed interest in Rap beef β thanks to Kendrick Lamarβs verse on βLike Thatβ- Busta Rhymes shared a new story about the infamous feud between The Notorious B.I.G. and 2Pac.
The latest revelation about the two late iconsβ historic beef comes courtesy of Busta, who recalled being present for the creation of one of Biggieβs alleged Rap verses taking aim at 2Pac.
During an appearance on “All The Smoke,” the Brooklyn rapper detailed an instance in which he attempted to get Biggie, Method Man, Nas, and himself on a track, but Biggie missed the first two studio sessions due to a broken elevator. The Bad Boy emcee suffered a severe leg injury during a 1996 car accident that prevented him from showing up for two back-to-back studio sessions.
Busta also said Meth and Nas never recorded their verses, and when the third studio session came around, both men opted out of attending.
βI got to Soundtracks [on] the third day. Elevators fine,β Busta remembers. βBig and [Lilβ] Cease come. They pull up. Meth and Nas came two days in a row now. No Biggie. So, they was not coming on the third day.β
βWe in the motherf**kinβ stu[dio] at the time, Branson is selling the most incredible bud in the hood and he would sell them in these jars that look like motherf**kinβ pickle jarsβ¦ mason jars,β he recalls. βCease would roll the blunts and Biggie would come with the Branson jars. He rolling weed. Blunt after blunt after blunt and Biggie just sitting in one of the studio chairs.β
Busta continued, βOne hour, two hours, he just smoking. He ainβt writing nothing. About three hours in Iβm like βMy ni**a you ainβt going to do this verse my ni**a?β That ni**a said, βIβm ready Buss.ββ
According to Busta, as Biggie recorded his verse, he quickly realized that Biggieβs lyrics included subliminal disses aimed at 2Pac, which he recited.
βDiamonds on my neck, chrome drop-top/ Chillinβ on the scene, smokinβ pounds of green/ Oooh-wee, you see, the ugliest/ Money-hungriest, Brooklyn Loch Ness/ Nine millimeter cock test, wan fiβ test?/ And the winner is, not that thinner kid/ Bandanas, tattoos, my skin never bruise/ Land still cruise, Frank Whiteβ¦β
βI told Big, βI ainβt puttin this out. I ainβt puttinβ this out, man.β Because Pac was my friend too. Pac choked the sound man out for me at a college show when we was [the] Leaders of the New School because we got there late. The n**ga turned the equipment off and wouldnβt let us get a sound check. This n**ga Pac ran up on this man and just choked him,β said Busta.
