Mac Miller‘s new posthumous album, “Balloonerism”, debuts at #3 on Billboard 200.

Over a decade after its creation, the anticipated project opens with a total of 81,000 equivalent album units in its first week, including 41,000 in album sales (#1 on Top Album Sales), 40,000 in streaming equivalent album units (51.6 million on-demand streams of the songs) and the remaining in track equivalent album units.

The 14-track album was recorded between 2013 and 2014 and marks Miller’s eight top 10 effort following “Faces”, “Circles”, “Swimming”, “The Divine Feminine”, “GO:OD AM”, “Watching Movies With The Sound Off” and “Blue Slide Park.”

Miller’s “Balloonerism” album has been the subject of fan speculation for over a decade. It was finally released on January, 17: two days ahead of Mac’s 33rd birthday and exactly five years since the release of his first posthumous album, “Circles”.

The cover art all transpired from an Instagram post. Surrealist artist Alim Smith shared a self-portrait he painted on his feed, on which Mac commented about a month before his death “Need this.”
