Kanye West’s latest album, “Bully“, has finally landed, and as expected, reactions are sharply divided. Much of this stems from the controversies that have surrounded him in recent years.

While many have grown weary of Ye’s antics, he does appear to be taking steps toward atoning for his mistakes. Rebuilding bridges and regaining favor will undoubtedly take time, but there’s a sense that he’s genuinely committed to making amends.

In this journey, the enduring influence of his late mother, Donda West, seems to serve as a guiding light.

Donda was not only a source of love and support but also a wellspring of inspiration that fueled Kanye’s artistic ambitions. It’s clear he believes her presence continues to offer him direction during moments of uncertainty.

By incorporating her into “Bully”, Kanye seems to make two poignant statements: signaling to estranged fans that he’s seeking help where he can and reaffirming his determination to stay in the game.

This tribute is most evident on the track “MAMA’S FAVORITE,” where Kanye includes a heartfelt conversation from earlier in his career for the outro. In the exchange, he asks Donda if she ever imagined he would reach the heights he had. Her response, as any devoted mother might offer, carries all the pride and belief she had in her son.

“I can believe it the way you are. Somebody got it, though, you play tracks like Michael Jordan shoots free throws. Anybody does something that much and that long and is that good, it’s gotta pay off. Can’t go up there and do nothing but go off.”

Additionally, Kanye asks Donda if he’s being too “arrogant.”

She replies: “No, you come off just right ’cause it’s what’s inside because you can’t be a star and not be a star. You gotta have some oomph about you. Don’t wanna just go say, ‘Oh, I’m just really not all that, but thank you anyway.’ Nothing like that, I’m not saying come off like that. I think the way you are handling yourself is really just perfect.”
