Get ready for a cinematic experience with gin and juice as Snoop Dogg’s biopic is scheduled to premiere in U.S. theaters on August 6, 2027.

The press release describes the film as the “definitive biopic” of Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus. Jonathan Daviss, known for his role in Outer Banks, will portray the iconic Death Row artist, with Craig Brewer from “Hustle & Flow” directing the film.

Titled simply “Snoop”, the movie will have an R rating. It’s yet to be disclosed whether the film will spotlight a particular phase of Snoop Dogg’s illustrious career or encompass his entire life story. Universal has previously produced highly regarded rap-centered films such as the N.W.A biopic “Straight Outta Compton” and “8 Mile” featuring Eminem.

This West Coast icon first hinted at the biopic plans during an appearance at CinemaCon in April, with production set to commence this summer.

“After my brothers got to tell their story with Straight Outta Compton, now it’s my turn,” the rapper told the Las Vegas audience. “My director, Craig Brewer, he just showed us how hard it is out here for a pimp from Hustle & Flow. And then last year, he got us all singing ‘Sweet Caroline,’” Snoop added, referencing the Brewer-directed Song Sung Blue.

Beyond N.W.A and Eminem, influential figures in rap like 50 Cent, The Notorious B.I.G., and 2Pac have inspired films that somewhat capture their lives. So far, Snoop Dogg has achieved 45 entries on the Billboard Hot 100, with chart-toppers like “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and features on Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” and Akon’s “I Wanna Love You.”
