YG was reportedly detained by California police this morning as part of the investigation into the murder of Drakeo The Ruler but was released shortly afterward.
On July 23, TMZ revealed that a property owned by the Compton rapper in Burbank was searched by the California Highway Patrol and a SWAT team under a warrant. YG was briefly held during this operation.
The celebrity news outlet reported that the search warrant was related to the ongoing investigation into Drakeo The Ruler’s 2021 murder. A video shared by TMZ depicts YG standing outside a building with law enforcement officers.
Despite speculation about his involvement in Drakeo’s stabbing at the “Once Upon a Time in LA Festival”, YG has never been charged. He has consistently denied any connection to the murder, even addressing the matter in his song “We Know the Truth” from his latest album, “The Gentlemen’s Club”.
“They say I murdered this, they say I murdered that/Well, if that was true, you’d be a f**king rat,” YG raps on the song. “And I’d be in the cell sleeping on a rack/But too bad that ain’t a f**king fact.”
“I came to get the dough, was finna hit the stage/Then I heard how y’all heard, somebody got hit with a blade,” YG continues. “I heard ni**as saying, ‘YG paid’/Stop lying, ni**a, come run YG fade.”
Even though YG has had legal issues recently, the Verzuz event featuring YG and The Game is reportedly still set to happen tonight.
