For years, Duane “Keefe D” Davis has been vocal about his involvement in Tupac Shakur’s murder, despite not being the one who fired the fatal shot.
However, following his recent conviction for the crime, Davis insists that the charges against him were concocted for profit and as a means to extricate himself from a situation.
In his inaugural interview since the conviction, Davis reached out to the Shakur family and addressed the rumors involving Diddy, Suge Knight, among others.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Keefe D declared his innocence and expressed optimism about overturning the conviction on appeal. He mentioned that his legal team had already filed an appeal well before the proceedings commenced.
Davis also contended that he wasn’t present in Las Vegas on that pivotal night in 1996, adding that no definitive evidence exists to confirm or refute his claim. He chose not to testify as advised by his attorney, who believed it might jeopardize his chances on appeal.
Furthermore, he shared remarks directed at Tupac’s family, who followed the trial with keen interest.
“I didn’t like the way they was looking at me – like they was ready to beat me up,” Davis remarked. “And I didn’t like the way the prosecutors kept bringing them in the back room where the jury was. That felt biased to me.”

He asserted that witnesses like Reggie Wright Jr. falsely testified against him, and later mentioned he had been at a bar near UCLA on the night of Tupac’s murder and only returned home the next day. Following this, Keefe D tried to have his legal fees covered by Diddy and Dr. Dre but was unable to contact either of them.
Davis also urged Suge Knight to disclose the truth, maintaining that Suge is aware Keefe wasn’t present in the car during the murder. Regarding Sean Combs, Keefe D sought help from Diddy and insisted he never discussed a million-dollar bounty on Suge and Tupac, contrary to some conspiracy theories.
He confessed to fabricating his involvement in Tupac’s murder in order to shield Puff or Zip from repercussions and to prevent authorities from taking his children due to drug-related issues. Davis accused numerous people involved in the trial of lying about him, asserting that he is a “good man” and not a “killer.”
He denied being a decision-maker at the time of the murder, refuted authoring the Compton Street Legend, and claimed Suge Knight had ties with law enforcement.
Ultimately, Davis remained steadfast in his claim of innocence and trusted in the appeal process. It has been reported that Judge Carli Kierny is scheduled to sentence Keefe D on October 13.
