Remy Ma‘s new EP, “Alimony,” was released on September 25. Hailing from the Bronx, she showcases her lyrical prowess in the standout track “Rem the Pen.”

In this song, she reflects on the current landscape of women in rap and mentions her long-term rival Nicki Minaj. Remy expresses admiration for fellow artists like Cardi B, Lil Kim, Rah Digga, Missy Elliott, and Monie Love while also touching on her frosty relationship with Minaj.

“Me and Nicki will probably never speak again/ Even that bitch told y’all I got a pen/ You not blackballed bitchh you just not Rem/ You can’t pop s–t and hang with my friends,” she raps.

How Did The Feud Start?

The rivalry between Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma began in 2007 when Remy perceived that Minaj was dissing her on the mixtape “Playtime Is Over.” After Remy was released from jail in 2014, the tension seemed to ease.

She even acknowledged Minaj’s win for best hip-hop at the 2016 BET Awards, and Minaj expressed a desire to collaborate with her former adversary.

Things took a turn again in 2017 when Remy suspected that Minaj was subtly insulting her through guest verses on Jason Derulo’s “Swalla” and Gucci Mane’s “Make Love.” In response, Remy fired back with “Shether” in February 2017, utilizing the beat from Nas’ iconic diss track against Jay-Z.

Despite these tensions, Minaj has not publicly addressed Remy’s mention of her on the new EP. Meanwhile, Remy has been active with several singles leading up to her project “Alimony” this year and has collaborated with artists like Millyz, French Montana, and Max B.
