Billboard-charting Detroit artist Ashwin Gane has teamed up with hometown rap stalwart Babyface Ray for his first feature collaboration, delivering a trap banger titled “Flip Dat (Remix).”
The high-octane remix bridges two generations of Detroit hip-hop, fusing Gane’s imaginative “Mythic Trap” style with Babyface Ray’s signature laid-back grit. The result is a track that’s already buzzing as one of Ray’s hardest-hitting guest verses and a defining moment for Gane’s rising career.
“This wasn’t just a feature — it was a meeting of minds,” says Ashwin Gane.
Babyface Ray adds, “We both care about the craft. That’s why it clicked so fast. You can hear it in the music — Detroit sound, cinematic twist.”
“Flip Dat (Remix)” adds a new dimension to the original track (which first appeared on Gane’s Flip Dat EP). The song’s production layers seductive Latin guitars, analog synth bass, and an unconventional boom-bap drum pattern.
Ashwin Gane’s verse comes in aggressive and commanding with his deep baritone, while Babyface Ray counterbalances with cool, unbothered flows that ooze Detroit authenticity. The push-and-pull between Gane’s bold delivery and Ray’s calm confidence creates a magnetic duality.
