Bad Bunny has dropped “Una Velita,” a polemic addressing the fallout from Hurricane Maria, which devastated Puerto Rico in 2017.

The Puerto Rican singer drops the new track to mark the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Maria. The effects of the Category 5 Atlantic hurricane is still felt throughout the country and was considered one of the most devastating events to hit the island.

Bad Bunny can be heard singing, “There were five thousand that they let die, and we will never forget that.”

The track not only comes on the heels of Hurricane Maria’s seventh anniversary, but also during election season, which he has been vocal about, using his social media platforms to encourage his millions of followers to make sure they’re registered to vote.

Following the release of his most recent album entitled “Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana” last October, “Una Velita” is Bad Bunny’s first single release of the year.
