Brandy is set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on March 30, at 11:30 a.m. PT. The ceremony will take place at 6201 Hollywood Boulevard and will be streamed live via the Walk of Fame website.
The event will feature remarks by actress and writer Issa Rae, along with singer and producer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. Entertainment host Sibley Scoles will serve as the emcee for the occasion.
Babyface, who earned his own star on the Walk of Fame back in 2013, has a longstanding connection to Brandy. He wrote “Sittin’ Up In My Room,” a track Brandy famously recorded for the “Waiting To Exhale” soundtrack in 1995. The song became a major hit, peaking at #2 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
This recognition caps off an already impressive year for Brandy. Earlier, on January 29, she was celebrated at the Recording Academy Honors Presented by the Black Music Collective, alongside industry heavyweights Pharrell Williams and Kirk Franklin. The prestigious event took place at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles.
Among her many accomplishments, Brandy’s most iconic hit remains “The Boy Is Mine,” her 1998 duet with Monica. The track dominated the Hot 100 for an incredible 13 weeks, setting a record as the longest-running #1 collaboration by two female artists—a title it still holds today.
“Brandy has captivated audiences for decades with a voice and artistry that helped shape modern R&B and inspire generations of performers,” Ana Martinez, Walk of Fame producer, said in a statement. “Honoring her with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a celebration of not only her extraordinary music career, but also her lasting impact on television, film, and popular culture.”
This marks the 2,839th star to be added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Managed by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on behalf of the City of Los Angeles, the Walk of Fame has drawn millions of visitors to this iconic cultural site since its establishment in 1960.
