Cam’ron has opened up about his headline-grabbing lawsuit against J. Cole, where he’s seeking at least $500,000 related to a failed collaboration agreement with the Dreamville rapper.
During his YouTube show, “Talk With Flee”, the Dipset icon shared details of the fallout. According to Cam, he had agreed to contribute features for J. Cole’s tracks “95 South” (2021) and “Ready ’24” (2024).
In exchange, Cole was supposed to return the favor with a guest verse at a later time. However, when Cam’ron approached Cole for that verse, he claims Cole turned him down.
Jokingly recounting the exchange, Cam described Cole’s response: “I’m exaggerating but he was like, ‘The chakra ain’t right now. The moon gotta align with the stars. When I write I put my all into it,’” Cam jokingly recalled. “[I was like], ‘Okay, well put your all into it!’”
Cam expressed his particular frustration because he said he promptly delivered his own contributions for Cole’s request, mentioning that he completed his verse for “Ready ’24” in just 20 minutes.
After this setback, Cam decided to propose doing an interview with Cole to promote his upcoming album instead — a suggestion Cole initially agreed to but repeatedly delayed.
Cam explained that Cole rescheduled their talk multiple times, largely due to his hesitations about discussing his highly publicized yet brief rap beef with Kendrick Lamar.
“Now we gonna do it in October,” Cam explained after claiming that Cole reneged on their original plan to record the interview that June. “[I said,] ‘Alright, I’ll call you back in October.’ This is when all the beef is going on with Kendrick Lamar.
“[Cole told me], ‘Yo, I can’t do it right now because I don’t feel like talking about that.’ I said, ‘Look, I won’t even bring that up.’ He says, ‘Nah, I can’t do no interview and not talk about it.’”
Subsequent attempts to reschedule were also unsuccessful, as Cole cited ongoing work on his album as the reason for further delays. This left Cam’ron feeling exasperated over what he viewed as repeated snubs.
J. Cole has yet to publicly address the situation or provide his side of the story.
