Cardi B has previewed music from her highly anticipated sophomore LP.

On Monday night (July 1), the Bronx representative posted a new melodic snippet on her Instagram story of an unreleased track, which contained a Janet Jackson sample. This would indicate that R&B vibes will be felt throughout the project, which is not a totally foreign concept for Cardi.

The beat seems to be a spin on Janet Jackson’s “Funny How Time Flies (When You’re Having Fun).” The track was originally featured on Jackson’s 1986 “Control” album, which sold over 14 million copies worldwide.

In the short clip, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper is seen sitting in a car with the lights down low as she showed off her melodic side. “I hope that you on your way/ Crazy ’bout you, waiting on you, can’t wait to sit on that face/ Focused on you,” she croons.

Cardi’s fans has been patiently waiting for album updates all year. In May, she tweeted that the LP will not be dropping, only to delete the post shortly after and recant her statement.

“I hate that I fall back and start interacting again and it bites me in the a**,” she wrote at the time. “Anyway NO album this year I don’t care I’m relaxing this year.. Dropping these features I already committed to and traveling and enjoying my summer.”

It’s been more than six years since Cardi B’s “Invasion Of Privacy” album arrived in April 2018. It topped the Billboard 200 with 255,000 album units sold in the first week and went on to win best Rap album at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
