Rappers Dave East and Papoose had an open and honest dialog about being fathers and postpartum depression in a recent sit-down interview.
Released on Friday (May 19), episode 2 of “Listen To Black Men” — a brand new interactive video series with CassiusLife and MadameNoire — sees both New York artists, alongside a number of industry insiders and social media personalities, delving into both pertinent topics and giving their views from personal experience.
“Once kids come into play, it ain’t the same situation,” Dave East mentioned. “It ain’t just you coming home and we fuck. It’s never the same. It’s a big girl and little girl, I can’t just come in the spot butt-naked, out the shower, ‘Wassup baby. What we doing?’ ”
“When a woman gives birth, it’s a big deal,” Papoose chimed in. “I think that as a man, you gotta understand what your woman just went through and you really gotta be patient and roll out that red carpet and you really gotta play a whole different role. I mean she just had a baby. You can’t expect her to go to the fucking club.”
Dave East then talked about being a stepfather while Papoose touched on the significance of parenting and helping each other through their issues.
