In the ongoing trial of Kewon White, accused of murdering Mo3, a Dallas detective has implicated Yella Beezy as having financed the 2020 killing.
On September 2, Detective Eric Barnes testified, suggesting that White acted as the hitman. Based on live updates from courtroom journalist La’Janeé Alford, known as The Docket Diva on X, the prosecution presented their case, highlighting the alleged hierarchy in this murder-for-hire scheme.
They pointed to both Beezy and DaVarius “Trapboy Freddy” Moore as key figures who orchestrated and funded the assassination.
“They’re the individuals that made payments for Mo3’s death,” Barnes said.
Prosecutors Methodically Construct The Case Timeline
Prosecutors have presented financial records linked to Beezy. These documents, shown in court, indicate that Beezy withdrew $40,000 in cash on November 20, 2020, just hours after returning from California and slightly over a week after Mo3‘s death.
Investigator Barnes testified that while there is suspicion that Freddy may have financially backed the hit, there are no records documenting any payment, which keeps Freddy free from charges.
Barnes wasn’t surprised by the lack of a paper trail, explaining Freddy’s reputation as a drug dealer, and noting such individuals often lack traditional financial documents.
It is alleged that Beezy subsequently met with Freddy and Jerry Johnson, reputedly the middleman, to facilitate payment for the murder. A text message referencing this alleged meeting was also displayed in court.
According to NBC 5 Dallas, prosecutors claimed during opening statements that cellphone records suggest White received $20,000 for the hit.
Barnes further testified about text messages between Beezy and Freddy in the days following Mo3’s murder, discussing plans to leave town and receiving numerous calls.
Prosecutors allege Beezy traveled back to California on November 22.
White is currently undergoing trial for Mo3’s murder. Beezy’s trial will follow at an unconfirmed date, as will the trial for Devin Brown, another individual charged with capital murder. Beezy, Brown, and White are facing charges related to Mo3’s killing, with Beezy accused of orchestrating the murder due to a prolonged feud.
Authorities claim Beezy paid White to carry out the shooting on Dallas’ I-35. Devin Brown is also charged with capital murder; prosecutors allege he was present with White and was caught on surveillance footage approaching Mo3’s car wearing a ski mask.
