Sean “Diddy” Combs is facing another setback behind bars, as his prison release date has reportedly been pushed back to March 2, 2028, following allegations that he accessed prohibited items and enjoyed special privileges inside federal prison.

The development adds another twist to the embattled music mogul’s incarceration, raising fresh questions about prison discipline, wealth, and whether fame can still buy comfort behind bars.

Diddy’s Release Date Takes Another Hit

According to updated federal inmate records reported by multiple outlets, Diddy’s projected release date shifted from January 21, 2028, to March 2, 2028. The change comes after an NBC News report detailed allegations from people familiar with his time at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey.

Those allegations include access to a cellphone, special meals, massages, and other services reportedly provided by fellow inmates. Unauthorized cellphones are prohibited in federal prisons, and any confirmed violation could carry disciplinary consequences.

Diddy has reportedly been moved to the facility’s Special Housing Unit amid scrutiny surrounding the claims. However, officials have not publicly confirmed the specific reasons for the release-date change, and the allegations should not be treated as proven misconduct.

The shift is especially striking because his projected release date had previously moved earlier, reportedly reflecting time credits and other adjustments. Now, the latest update puts his expected return home more than a month later than previously listed.

Prison Privileges Put Diddy Under Fresh Scrutiny

The controversy has reignited debate over whether wealthy inmates can secure a dramatically different experience behind bars. Reports alleging special treatment have drawn intense attention because Combs spent decades building an image around extraordinary access, influence, and luxury.

But prison regulations apply regardless of celebrity status. If prohibited items or rule violations are established, Combs could face consequences under the facility’s disciplinary procedures. At the same time, a revised projected release date alone does not prove that a specific allegation caused the change.

Diddy is serving a 50-month federal sentence after being convicted on two prostitution-related transportation counts in 2025. He was acquitted of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges and is appealing his conviction.

For now, March 2, 2028, is the reported projected release date—not a guarantee. Further changes remain possible as his sentence and any disciplinary matters continue to unfold.
