Six years after the duo released their first collaboration titled “Sneakin” in 2016, Drake and 21 Savage have united for a collaboration album, “Her Loss,” following a week-long delay due to Drake’s longtime producer Noah “40” Shebib coming down with COVID while mixing and mastering the LP.
“Her Loss” was officially revealed on October 22 in the music video for Drake and 21 Savage’s song “Jimmy Cooks,” the final track from Drake’s summer LP, “Honestly, Nevermind.”
The 16-track release features an appearance from Travis Scott on a song called “Pussy & Millions.” A cut titled “Circo Loco” features a sample and vocal interpolation of Daft Punk’s Discovery hit “One More Time.” It includes four Drake solos and one 21 Savage solo. The cover is a photo of Qui Yasuka, a model known as Suki Baby.
Drake and 21 Savage have worked together multiple times in recent years. 21 Savage appeared on Drake’s Certified Lover Boy track “Knife Talk,” while Drake guested on “Mr. Right Now,” from 21 Savage and Metro Boomin’s Savage Mode II. In June, 21 Savage joined Pharrell and Tyler, the Creator on “Cash In Cash Out.”
The first-week numbers projections for Drake and 21 Savage’s inaugural collab album have started to surface. Per HITS Daily Double, the album is projected to open at 335-350k. It garnered approximately 150 million first-day streams in the United States and is trending 425 million to 450 million in its first week.
“Her Loss” is projected to open at #1 on next week’s Billboard 200.
