The Drake Grammy boycott is becoming impossible to ignore.
The Toronto superstar reportedly declined to submit any of his three 2026 albums—or any of their songs—for consideration at the 2027 Grammy Awards, once again putting his complicated relationship with music’s biggest awards show under the spotlight.
According to reports, Drake did not submit “Iceman”, “Habibti” or “Maid of Honour” before the deadline. All three projects were eligible, meaning the decision appears to have been deliberate rather than an issue of timing or eligibility.
Drake Appears to Have Made His Choice
The decision may not come as a complete surprise to fans who have followed Drake’s complicated history with the Grammys.
On the closing track of “Iceman”, “Make Them Know,” Drake appears to address the awards directly, suggesting that he had no intention of submitting the album for consideration.
What once sounded like a provocative lyric now looks far more significant.
The Timing Makes the Snub Even Bigger
Drake released three albums in 2026, keeping himself firmly at the center of the hip-hop conversation. Yet despite having plenty of potentially eligible material, he has apparently chosen to keep his music outside the Grammy race.
That decision is particularly striking because Drake has previously been one of the most commercially dominant artists in Grammy history.
He has won five Grammy Awards and received numerous nominations throughout his career. Walking away now therefore does not look like a rejection from the Grammys.
It looks like Drake rejecting the Grammys.
Drake Has Never Hidden His Frustration
This is hardly Drake’s first confrontation with the Recording Academy.
The rapper has criticized the awards multiple times and withdrew his “Certified Lover Boy” nominations ahead of the 2022 ceremony. His relationship with the Grammys has increasingly appeared to be one of respect mixed with deep skepticism.
The latest move pushes that tension even further.
Rather than competing for another trophy, Drake appears willing to let the music speak without the Grammy seal of approval.
What Drake’s Absence Could Mean
The Drake Grammy boycott could leave a noticeable hole in the rap categories, especially after a year in which he released multiple projects.
It also raises a much bigger question: Does Grammy recognition still matter when one of the world’s biggest artists refuses to participate?
Drake has already spent years proving he can dominate without industry approval.
Now, he may be testing whether the Grammys can remain culturally relevant without him.
