Drake and Kendrick Lamar were going head-to-head in several categories at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards. And Drizzy was the big winner.
Drake has been named the “Top R&B/Hip-Hop Artist” at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards, earning the title for the eighth time.
The 38-year-old artist also took home “Top Rap Album” for his 2023 project, “For All The Dogs.” Billboard notes Drizzle’s release spent 11 weeks at #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart during the eligibility period, the longest run for any Drake album since “Take Care.”
In the categories “Top Rap Artist” and “Top Rap Male Artist,” the Canadian musician beats his Compton-bred opponent Kendrick Lamar for the win.
Lamar did not go home empty handed, though. His Drake diss “Not Like Us” won “Top Rap Song” honors. The summer anthem broke records with a 24-week streak atop the “Hot Rap Songs” chart and a 21-week run leading the “Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs” chart, tying a previous record.
Additonal winners at the the event include Tyla, Shaboozey, and Beyoncé, who took home her first award in the country music lane for “Cowboy Carter.”
