Drake is facing a copyright infringement lawsuit over the music video for his track “What Did I Miss?”

Photographer Gabriele Galimberti filed the complaint on November 12 in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. The lawsuit accuses the Canadian artist of engaging in “willful, brazen, and extensive unlawful infringement.”

Galimberti claims that Drake plagiarized a photo from his portrait series “The Ameriguns”, which features a family in a swimming pool surrounded by numerous firearms.

The “What Did I Miss?” video reportedly includes a comparable scene, showcasing Drake performing near a pool surrounded by multiple guns, mirroring the concept of Galimberti’s work.

The filing asserts that Drake and the involved parties used this imagery without consent or prior knowledge, creating “an unauthorized replica” of the original photo. The suit further claims their actions resulted in significant damage to the value of Galimberti’s work, as well as his broader body of photography and related licensing opportunities in relevant markets.

Released on July 6 as part of Drake’s YouTube series “Iceman”, the music video is linked to his forthcoming album of the same name.

Galimberti is pushing for a jury trial and seeking unspecified financial compensation.
