Eminem is known for keeping his personal reflections off social media, but occasionally, he shares heartfelt messages that mark significant moments.
April 11 marked 20 years since the passing of Proof — Eminem’s close friend, D12 collaborator, former hype man, and integral figure in his life and career.
To honor him, Marshall Mathers shared a deeply personal tribute on Twitter.
“Not a day goes by that I don’t think about you in some way, shape, or form…” he began.
“You were, and still are, truly one of the greatest friends I’ve ever had in my entire life. I thank God every day that He brought us into each other’s lives. I feel like it all happened for a reason. From the day we met on the steps of Osborne, when I was handing out flyers and we rapped for each other, we instantly bonded and never looked back.”
The Detroit icon reflected on how much Proof influenced his journey. He praised his late friend for shaping his path, believing in him when few did, and helping build the confidence he needed to succeed.
Eminem also shared memories of Proof’s unwavering support, from backing him at clubs and open mics to lending credibility that opened countless doors.
Throughout his career, Eminem has acknowledged many individuals who contributed to his journey, but none have left an impression quite like Proof.
This heartfelt tribute stands as a testament to their enduring bond and immense impact on each other’s lives.
