Slim Shady is back but seemingly for the last time.
Eminem announced that his 12th studio album “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace)” will be releasing this summer.
The Detroit rapper shared the breaking news right after his appearance at the NFL Draft in the form of a short teaser. This comes almost a month after Dr. Dre confirmed that Em’s new album would be arriving later this year.
The clip is showing a true crime reporter discussing the death of Eminem’s alter ego, Slim Shady. “Through his complex and oft-criticized, tongue-twisting rhymes, the anti-hero known as Slim Shady has had no shortage of enemies,” he says.
The Rock Hall-inducted emcee’s longtime friend 50 Cent is then shown in a cameo. “He’s not a friend, he’s a psychopath,” Fif says. The reporter continues, “The same rude lyrics and controversial antics may have ultimately led to his demise. Join me as we recreate the events that led to the murder of Slim Shady.”
Eminem himself makes an appearance, stating: “I knew it was only a matter of time for Slim.”
Eminem’s last album, “Music To Be Murdered By,” received mixed reviews upon its release in early 2020. Nevertheless, the album landed at #1 on the Billboard 200, for Em’s historic 10th consecutive leader. Prior to that Eminem delivered another surprise with “Kamikaze,” which dropped in 2018 without any warning.
