Aside from 2Pac, Fat Joe views himself as the most authentic rapper in history.
This bold claim was made during an episode of the “Joe and Jada” podcast, where Fat Joe and Jadakiss hosted Ghostface Killah for a conversation that coincided with the Wu-Tang Clan legend’s work on the highly anticipated sequel to “Supreme Clientele”.
While introducing their esteemed guest, Joe described Killah as “a superhero” and credited him with earning a place among hip-hop’s elite, a roster that Joe clearly counts himself and Jada among.
During the episode, Joe candidly expressed his thoughts, saying, “If I’m being honest, I really think I’m the realest rapper to have ever lived—except for 2Pac. That’s just how I feel. But let me be clear: I’ve got love for Wu-Tang Clan. Wu-Tang’s for the children.”
He emphasized his respect and admiration for Wu-Tang, particularly Ghostface Killah’s artistic contributions. Joe said, “Imma admit something. I think I’m the realest rapper [who] ever lived if I keep it a buck with you, besides 2Pac. I really believe that. But I want no beef with Wu-Tang Clan. Wu Tang’s for the children.”
Fat Joe has a history of referencing 2Pac in discussions about authenticity in hip-hop. Back in 2021, he sparked controversy by comparing DaBaby to Makaveli but stood firm despite criticism. More recently, he echoed similar sentiments while weighing in on Kendrick Lamar’s ongoing artistic rivalry with Drake in 2024.
In relates news, Fat Joe is the rapper who admitted that he lied in 95% of his songs about life in the streets.
