FBG Duck’s mother, LaSheena Weekly, has announced that she can now proceed with her wrongful death lawsuit against rapper Lil Durk following a judge’s ruling.
On January 13, Weekly took to Instagram to inform her followers about progress in the legal battle that has been ongoing for over a year.
Her post conveyed hope, stating: “A step forward. The ruling is in and my son gets his day in court. The court ruled that we can continue our lawsuit against Lil Durk and the record labels. Our fight continues.”
In October 2023, Weekly filed the lawsuit targeting Lil Durk, King Von, their respective record labels, the city of Chicago, Dolce & Gabbana, two private security firms, and six individuals convicted in the fatal shooting of FBG Duck outside a Dolce & Gabbana store in Chicago’s upscale Gold Coast neighborhood.
The legal claim asserted that Durk and the record labels were aware of King Von’s animosity toward FBG Duck. It alleged they intentionally fostered a narrative of “reality rap” intertwined with violence and public feuds, using such tactics to bolster record sales, streaming numbers, and overall branding built on a violent image.
The lawsuit further accused Dolce & Gabbana of failing to provide sufficient security outside their store and criticized the Chicago Police Department for delays in providing medical aid following the attack. Weekly had previously reached an undisclosed settlement with Dolce & Gabbana in July 2023.
The case was initiated nine months after six men from Chicago’s O-Block neighborhood were convicted for their involvement in Duck’s tragic killing. Neither King Von nor Lil Durk faced criminal charges related to his death.
