B.G., whose real name is Christopher Dorsey, is a free man.

The Hot Boys rapper has been released from prison after serving just over 12 years for gun possession and witness tampering. He was originally sentenced to 14 years.

Cash Money head honcho Bryan “Birdman” Williams posted video footage of him picking up B.G.

“After 12 winters and 13 summers, I see the end zone. It’s my last #Birthday being buried alive. This year I’m celebrating the whole Virgo cycle, matter of fact, from this year forward I’m living and celebrating like everyday is #MyBIRTHDAY,” B.G. wrote on Instagram Monday. “After 12 winters and 13 summers, I see the end zone.”

B.G. tried to be released from prison early last year but was denied even though Birdman, Wendy Day, Slim, Gary Payton Sr., and other high profile names in the music industry have sent in letters of support.

In July 2012, Dorsey was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to two counts of possessing a gun as a felon and obstruction of justice. For the last 11 years, Dorsey had been incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution in Herlong, Calif., a small, remote town along the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains.

B.G. was one of the members of the Hot Boys, the New Orleans rap group formed in the Nineties that included Lil Wayne, Juvenile, and Turk.
