Iggy Azalea has made it clear that her journey in the music industry has come to an end.
The Australian rapper, who has increasingly directed her time and energy toward entrepreneurial ventures and digital projects, reiterated her decision to step away from music.
On Friday (November 28), she addressed the matter on Instagram. Responding to a fan’s inquiry about rumors of her signing a new record deal, Azalea dispelled the notion with a candid reply.
“F*** no,” Azalea replied in the comments. “But I did consider signing, for weeks. I’m very sure I don’t want to come back to the music industry.”
This statement aligns with her gradual move away from releasing major projects over the years. Her last studio album, “The End Of An Era”, dropped in 2021 and symbolized a personal milestone, intended to close one chapter as she embarked on new creative endeavors.
Back in 2014, her debut album “The New Classic” made waves internationally with its smash hit “Fancy,” which became a Billboard chart-topper and solidified her status as one of the most commercially successful Australian rappers of the decade.
Azalea’s exit has also been marked by disputes with Universal Music Group (UMG). Earlier this year, she publicly accused the corporation on X of withholding “millions of dollars” in unpaid royalties from international revenues amassed during the early stages of her career.
She described the sum as being in the “eight-figure range”, alleging that UMG had effectively stolen earnings. While the label did not respond publicly to these claims, Azalea has continued advocating for greater transparency in royalty distribution and supporting fellow artists’ rights online.
Currently, Azalea’s focus remains on business and online creative initiatives, including ventures in cryptocurrency. Her latest Instagram comments further reinforce her stance, suggesting her retirement from music is resolute, without any indication of reversing course or planning a return.
