Lawyers for Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, argued that the anonymous victim who accused the Hip-Hop mogul of raping her when she was 13 should be required to identify herself.

The victim accused the New York artist of raping her as a 13-year-old girl back in 2000 at a MTV VMA afterparty.

The suit was filed by Tony Buzbee, a Texas attorney representing a number of people who say they were sexually assaulted and/or drugged by Diddy.

Hov strongly denying the charges in a public statement, filed a motion in federal court on Monday (December 9) requesting that the plaintiff in the case be denied the ability to proceed anonymously.

“The filing from [Jay-Z’]s attorney, Alex Spiro, specifically requests that the Jane Doe’s identity be disclosed in order to properly defend himself against this false claim through the legal process in a transparent manner,” read a press release Jay’s team issued.

“Mr. Carter should not have to defend himself in the brightest of spotlights against an accuser who hides in complete darkness while leveling allegations that describe the purported acts occurring in the plain sight of witnesses who could refute the plaintiff’s claims if only her identity was revealed,” the filing said.

It went on to say, “Mr. Carter deserves to know the identity of the person who is effectively accusing him — in sensationalized, publicity-hunting fashion — of criminal conduct, demanding massive financial compensation, and tarnishing a reputation earned over decades.”

Buzbee previously said that Jay-Z was trying to “bully and harass me and this plaintiff,” but praised the alleged victim for withstanding the criticism levied by the rapper. “She is emboldened. I’m very proud of her resolve.”

As previously reported, the victim is seeking unspecified damages and the lawsuit is filed under New York’s Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act.
