Ice Spiceâs team reportedly banned the use of a verse she recorded for Kanye Westâs âNew Body.â
âNew Bodyâ was initially intended to be released on “Vultures 1” with a guest appearance from Nicki Minaj. However, after the Trinidadian raptress refused to clear her verse, Ye turned to Ice Spice.
In December 2023, Minaj explained why she turned down the track. âNow, regarding Kanye, that train has left the station, okay? No disrespect in any way. I just put out a brand-new album, [Pink Friday 2],â she explained on Instagram Live. âWhy would I put out a song thatâs been out for three years? Come on, guys.â
Ye revealed that Ice Spice recorded some bars for the track, but her management refused to greenlight it.
On the rapperâs Instagram Story, he wrote: âIce Spice sent a verse in for âNew Body.â Now her team is saying we canât use it.â
The original song was made in 2018 with Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign, and was supposed to be released as part of the Yeezy bossâ since-scrapped “Yandhi” album the following year.
Ye and Ty then planned to release it on “Vultures 1” earlier this year, but Minaj ultimately denied permission.
Ice Spice has yet to respond to Yeâs comments.
