Kevin Gates‘ estranged wife, Dreka Gates, has accused the rapper of cutting off financial support for their family and is now requesting significant spousal and child support.
As reported by TMZ, Dreka — who tied the knot with Kevin in 2015 — claims in legal filings that the artist began dismantling their family’s financial stability in 2021.
She alleges Gates stopped covering essential expenses, including property taxes and tuition for their children’s private schooling. The couple shares two children, Islah, 12, and Khaza, 11, both of whom inspired the names of his debut and third albums.
On top of feeling financially neglected, Dreka claims that Kevin has flaunted his wealth, citing the purchase of 18 luxury cars and a $4.7 million home in Calabasas.
Meanwhile, her small farm in Mississippi is facing foreclosure after the IRS filed a $7 million lien. She is reportedly requesting $27,193 per month in child support and $46,274 monthly for spousal support.
However, Gates denies ever being legally married to Dreka, describing her claims as baseless. Dreka, who has also sought primary custody of their children, filed for divorce in July — a month after public confirmation of Gates’ short-lived union with media personality Brittany Renner. Their relationship, a “spiritual” marriage under Islamic law, lasted just 52 days before ending.
Though Gates has avoided commenting on his breakup with Renner, the former Basketball Wives star has shared her perspective.
Speaking with podcaster Bootleg Kev during the 2025 BET Awards, Renner emphasized that she gave her all to the relationship.
“A lot of people, their issue is, even just in dating, in marriage, it’s people just don’t give it their all. They don’t just go for it. But I feel like when you do, you’re at peace with whatever happens because I gave 100 percent.”
