After the 2021 Grammys, Lil Baby revealed that he met his idol Jay-Z and says that he will be following in the rap legend’s footsteps. The Atlanta rapper also let off a tweet admiring how Jigga took care of Beyonce.

Following his tweet a new interview from Lil Baby and Billboard was released and the admiration of the Brooklyn GOAT stretches beyond his stroll with wifey.

I’m really not that fond of meeting other celebrities, but Jay-Z is a guy who I look up to, and look up to the way he moves and the things that he’s done. I see myself following in his footsteps.

In related news: Lil Baby took the stage at the 2021 Grammys to deliver a fiery performance of “The Bigger Picture,” where he depicted police brutality. The track was also among the night’s nominated songs.

Lil Baby explained his reasons behind the controversial performance.

I wanted to use a specific situation that would give people an understanding of where I come from. I didn’t really want to use the George Floyd or Breonna Taylor [killings] or something. I wanted to use something that stood by me. That happened in Atlanta, and I live in Atlanta, and I’ve been in some of those same exact situations.
