The wait is nearly over.
Lil Wayne has officially unveiled the cover artwork and name-dropped some of the features on his highly anticipated album “Tha Carter VI.”
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Weezy shared an impressive list of star-studded collaborators that are expected to be on his new project.
Weezy confirms the list during a listening session, revealing the likes of Wyclef Jean, Andrea Bocelli, Miley Cyrus, Elephant Man, Machine Gun Kelly, Bono, Wheezy, Ye, his son Kameron Carter and more on the album. There’s also reportedly a track with an uncleared Billie Eilish sample — though it’s unclear if that will make the final cut.
“If there’s one thing about this album that’s different,” Wayne explained. “It’s me approaching it like, ‘Man, what would I sound like on something with such and such?’”
Weezy added with a laugh, “You going to probably do like eight songs [with Wyclef] because he’s going to keep flipping what you did on one [song] and make a whole [new] song out of that s**t.”
The awaited album will mark Weezy’s first solo album since 2020’s “Funeral,” which debuted atop the Billboard 200. The last three installments of Wayne’s decorated “Carter” series have all gone #1.
Elsewhere in the interview, the Young Money founder says he’s open to recording a sequel to his and Birdman‘s 2006 album “Like Father, Like Son” but with his teenage sons — Kameron, Dwayne III and Neal — who are all following in his footsteps as rappers.
“Tha Carter VI” is set to release on June 6.
