Rap superstar Lil Wayne was known for being fairly uninformed about the new generation of rappers, but one artist has caught his attention. During an appearance on Sneaker Shopping With Complex, Weezy mentioned that Lil Baby is his “favorite artist.”

On The Breakfast Club, I saw my favorite artist Lil Baby with the BAPE/Coach collaboration jacket. And I was like, ‘Is that a Coach? Wifey was like, ‘Bathing Ape collabed with Coach?’ She’s into that, so she’s like Coach is pretty such and such and such … So, they doing things. Shout out to Bathing Ape.

Lil Wayne

Wayne’s admiration for Baby doesn’t come as a surprise since the two rappers have collaborated on multiple tracks in 2020. Both joined forces in January on the “Funeral” album cut “I Do It,” which also featured Big Sean. Later on, Weezy returned the favor by appearing on Baby’s song “Forever” off “February’s My Turn” project.

During an interview with the New York Times in 2016, Lil Wayne confirmed that he is paying little attention to newer Hip Hop artists such as 21 Savage, Kodak Black, Lil Uzi Vert and Lil Yachty. Instead the Young Money rapper mentioned he prefers listening to himself and Tech N9ne.
