Lil Wayne is back.
Weezy unleashed the anticipated sixth installment to his Hall-of-Fame series “Tha Carter” today (June 6), which he kicked off in 2004.
Seven years after “C5”, Weezy finally returned with the next chapter.
“Real art can’t be rushed — and y’all know I ain’t never been on nobody’s clock but mine. Been silent but not still. To the fans who’ve been waiting, I love you,” Wayne said in a press release.
“This album is for the ones who’ve been riding with me through all Tha Carters. We takin’ it further than ever before with this one. Tunechi back. C6 is here. I’m just bein myself. Sorry for the wait.”
The official tracklist spans 19 songs and comes complete with contributions from BigXThaPlug, Jay Jones, Jelly Roll, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Andrea Bocelli, Wyclef Jean, Mannie Fresh, Lil Novi, MGK, Kodak Black and his son Kameron Carter.
Fans were hoping the album would feature reunions with Drake and Nicki Minaj. However, neither of them is listed on the tracklist.
On the production side, the New Orleans rapper recruited Wheezy and Kanye West behind the boards.
“Tha Carter VI” is Lil Wayne’s first solo album since he dropped “Funeral” at the top of the decade, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200.
In promotion of the new album, Weezy is embarking on “Tha Carter VI Tour.” Kicking off on July 30, the tour will run through October 2 and feature Tyga and special guests NoCap and Belly Gang Kushington on selected dates.
