Megan Thee Stallion is set to go to trial as a result of a lawsuit filed by her former photographer, who alleges harassment and unpaid wages.

On August 7, a federal judge in New York denied a motion from Megan’s legal team for a summary judgment, meaning the case brought forward by Emilio Garcia will now proceed to trial, as reported by NBC News.

In April 2024, Garcia initiated the lawsuit against the Houston rapper, accusing her of creating a hostile work environment and engaging in harassment. He claims Megan also criticized his weight and did not adequately compensate him, allegedly violating several labor laws.

The lawsuit details an incident in 2022 when Garcia claims he was in Ibiza, Spain, and found himself in an uncomfortable situation when he was forced into a car with Megan who, he alleges, was intimately involved with another woman at the time.

The following day, according to Garcia, Megan instructed him to “never discuss what you saw.”

Judge Gregory Woods stated on Friday that the evidence surrounding the allegations of harassment and workplace conditions, along with claims of unpaid wages and unfair business practices, necessitates a trial.

“We thank Judge Woods for taking the time to review and consider the evidence which led to his substantive ruling primarily in Mr. Garcia’s favor,” said Garcia’s attorney Ron Zambrano, a partner and Employment Litigation Chair at West Coast Employment Lawyers, in a statement. “Mr. Garcia is looking forward to having his day in court.”

The lawsuit also involves other defendants such as Megan Thee Stallion Entertainment, Inc., Hot Girl Touring, LLC, and Roc Nation.

Megan Thee Stallion, along with her prominent attorney Alex Spiro, has strongly refuted Garcia’s claims, with Spiro characterizing the lawsuit as a financial ploy.
