The trial concerning the murder of Mo3 has been postponed until further notice.
Yella Beezy, accused of orchestrating the 2020 killing of Mo3 by allegedly paying Kewon White, was originally set to face trial on February 2.
However, during a pretrial hearing held on Friday, January 16, in Dallas County Court, the defense requested an extension, citing the significant volume of evidence presented by the prosecution.
Yella Beezy did not attend the hearing due to the recent loss of his mother. Judge Chika Anyiam has scheduled another hearing for next week to determine how much additional time will be required before the trial can proceed.
The judge’s ruling stated that next week’s session would address logistical concerns and motions raised during this hearing, with the aim of setting a revised trial date.
On January 7, Beezy’s legal team filed a motion seeking to delay the trial. They argued that reviewing over 16 terabytes of discovery material submitted by the prosecution was an overwhelming task requiring more time.
The motion asserted that a significant portion of the material is unrelated to the case, providing no substantive new evidence about the incident.
The documents include audit data, jail calls, repetitive video recordings, and other files not directly relevant to the defense. Furthermore, some contents lack proper labeling or meaningful organization, complicating their review by the defense team.
Yella Beezy has been out on bond since shortly after his arrest for Mo3’s murder in March last year. If convicted, he faces the prospect of a life sentence.
