An animal rescue center, Lions Tigers & Bears, has accused rapper NBA YoungBoy of abusing a white tiger he once owned.
This claim surfaced in a YouTube video shared by wildlife biologist and TV host Forrest Galante, who visited the Alpine, California-based facility to learn about their rescued animals.
One of the animals at the sanctuary is a white tiger they named Nola, previously owned by the Baton Rouge artist. According to WAFB-9, the organization rescued the tiger cub in late 2017 when she was around five months old.
Authorities reportedly discovered her in an unpermitted and non-commercial location in New Orleans. At the time, Nola required immediate medical attention for issues suggesting severe neglect.
Lions Tigers & Bears reported that Nola was lethargic, malnourished, and suffering from ringworm when she arrived at their care. The employees recounted that her furless face and damaged paw pads resulted from parasites and being confined to a cement surface.
Nola has remained under the sanctuary’s protection since her rescue right before Christmas that year.
In the video, an employee recounts Nola’s troubling past, describing her early life as a “cub pet” of the rapper. She alleges that NBA YoungBoy abused the tiger and references social media posts that attracted the attention of authorities.
The animal was later transferred to the Audubon Zoo in Louisiana before arriving at Lions Tigers & Bears.
Forrest Galante expressed his disappointment after hearing Nola’s story, stating his disapproval of celebrities owning exotic animals under such conditions. “Don’t be a rapper. And if you are a rapper, don’t get a tiger,” he remarked passionately.
