A political clash nobody saw coming has erupted between rap superstar Nicki Minaj and New York Governor Kathy Hochul.

The Nicki Minaj and Kathy Hochul feud exploded after the rapper publicly branded the Democratic governor an “evil woman,” prompting Hochul to fire back with a pointed warning about Minaj’s growing support for Donald Trump.

What started as a social media attack has quickly become another headline-grabbing controversy in New York’s heated gubernatorial race.

Minaj unleashed her criticism on X, questioning why Democrats continue supporting Hochul and accusing her of failing to speak out against wrongdoing. She also urged voters to support Republican challenger Bruce Blakeman.

The rapper specifically revisited Hochul’s controversial 2024 remarks suggesting that some Black children in the Bronx did not know what a computer was. Hochul later apologized for the comments.

Kathy Hochul Fires Back at Nicki Minaj

Hochul wasn’t prepared to let the criticism pass without a response.

Asked about Minaj’s explosive posts, the governor suggested the rapper should spend less time online and stay away from Trump’s political events.

“Stop going to Trump rallies because it’s poisoning your mind,” Hochul told reporters.

The remark immediately added fuel to an already heated exchange, exposing the growing tension between the governor and a celebrity who once supported her politically.

Minaj previously encouraged New Yorkers to support Hochul during her 2018 campaign. Today, however, the rapper has become an outspoken Trump supporter, even appearing alongside the president at a Michigan rally.

Bruce Blakeman Seizes the Political Moment

Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman wasted little time joining the controversy. He publicly welcomed Minaj’s criticism and encouraged her to help defeat Hochul.

The timing could hardly be more significant. With New York’s November 3 gubernatorial election approaching, the public exchange has brought celebrity influence and political loyalty into the spotlight.

Still, the bigger question is whether this celebrity-fueled confrontation will have any meaningful impact on voters.

For now, Hochul and Minaj appear to have turned a political disagreement into a very public war of words — and neither seems interested in backing down.
