Outlawz member E.D.I. Mean recounts the night Tupac Shakur was brutally shot during his testimony on the seventh day of the Tupac murder trial.

On August 25, Malcolm Greenidge, known as E.D.I. Mean and a childhood friend of Tupac, shared his memories of the tragic events that unfolded on September 7, 1996. This incident occurred after the Mike Tyson vs. Bruce Seldon fight at Las Vegas’s MGM Grand.

The experienced rapper and producer was in a car trailing the black BMW carrying Tupac and Death Row Records CEO Marion “Suge” Knight, as they headed to the 662 club. Greenidge described seeing a light-colored Cadillac pull up alongside Shakur and Knight’s vehicle and witnessed an arm extending from the car window, firing shots at the BMW.

“I’m horrified,” he said when asked about his reaction to the shooting at the time. “We started to get out of the car to go check on Tupac.”

Before they could assess ‘Pac’s condition, Greenidge noted that Suge made a U-turn and drove away. They pursued them, and once Suge halted again, Greenidge and the others evaluated Tupac’s state.

“We get out of the car to go check on Tupac,” he recalled. “When we approached the car, [Shakur] said to me, ‘Get on the ground. They’re going to shoot you.’ When I turned around, it was a shotgun in my face.”

Greenidge described the situation where police officers arrived, their guns drawn, commanding everyone to get on the ground. He also mentioned that he couldn’t identify the shooter or shooters in the vehicle.

Tragically, Tupac Shakur succumbed to his injuries on September 13, 1996, just seven days later.

The trial continues and is anticipated to extend over approximately six weeks. Duane “Keffe D” Davis is charged with masterminding the 1996 murder, and if found guilty, he could be sentenced to life imprisonment.
