Georgia police arrested Playboi Carti in late December after his girlfriend accused him of assaulting her. However, his lawyer pushed back in a statement concerning the arrest.

Per TMZ, police booked Carti for an alleged assault that occurred in December. The popular rapper allegedly pushed his pregnant girlfriend and choked her to the point where she felt she could have died. Police booked the rapper on felony aggravated assault after she called authorities.

Police mentioned that his girlfriend told the police that she and Carti have dated for 2 years, although she moved in with him in July 2022. She explained that the two began arguing over a paternity test, which escalated rapidly into physical violence. In the report, she stated she was 14 weeks pregnant at the time of the alleged assault. Jail records obtained by Complex confirm that police booked and released the rapper in late December.

The woman explained that she met with the “Whole Lotta Red” rapper to discuss her being pregnant but that turned into a violent argument. During the physical altercation, a witness allegedly tried to assist her and break the fight up. However, as soon as she got to her car, she stated the rapper attacked her once more. Carti allegedly pulled her out of the car, placing his hand over her mouth when she tried to use the S.O.S. feature to call the cops. Police confirmed that they found visible injuries on her neck, and chest.

Brian Steel, the lawyer for the rapper, mentioned the charges won’t stick. Furthermore, he stated Carti faces false accusations in this case.

“Mr. Carter was falsely accused,” Steel advised TMZ in a press release. “Pursuant to my communications with the Fulton County District Attorney‘s office, this case will be dismissed without any prosecution or litigation.”
