Post Malone is officially kicking off the rollout of his forthcoming album entitled “Austin” with its brand new single, “Mourning.”
Clocking in at just under two-and-a-half minutes, the emotional track hears Posty sing “I don’t wanna sober up/ The sun is killing my buzz/ Guess that’s why they call it mourning” in the chorus and open up about his personal struggles, which includes his reference to so-called “friends,” the whirlwind of fame, a lack of genuine connections and being unable to talk to anyone about what he’s going through.
“Austin,” the artist’s followup to “Twelve Carat Toothache,” is set to drop on July 28 and is described by Malone as “one of the most challenging, rewarding, and exciting records I’ve worked on.” He added on Twitter, “i feel it captures who i am as a man and as an artist in this moment. thank y’all so much for your patience, and thank you for being there with me in my hardest times. i love y’all so much, and am ready to f*cking party with y’all. cheers, and keep spreading love.”
