Public Enemy offers a powerful history lesson with their politically charged video for “The Hits Just Keep On Coming”.
True to form, the legendary group continues to challenge norms and ignite conversations, releasing the visual on October 30. The track is part of their June album “Black Sky Over The Projects: Apartment 2025”.
In the video, televisions surround Chuck D and Flavor Flav as they delve into a striking narrative filled with political and cultural significance. The opening scene features Ruby Bridges courageously ending segregation by walking into her New Orleans elementary school in 1960, setting the tone for the impactful imagery to follow.
Flavor Flav tapped into his connection with the 2024 U.S. women’s Olympic water polo team to bring Ashleigh Johnson on board for the project. Johnson takes on striking portrayals of Black icons such as Serena Williams, Prince, and Tommie Smith.
The video also intersperses historical footage of revolutionary figures like Martin Luther King Jr., Muhammad Ali, and Malcolm X. Another pivotal moment features Johnson smashing a television screen displaying the word “Hate,” making a bold statement against division.
“Black Sky Over The Projects: Apartment 2025” marks Public Enemy’s 16th studio album, released in June.
