Fred The Godson has reportedly passed away in New York City at the age of 35 after being diagnosed with coronavirus earlier this month.
The South Bronx rapper had been suffering from COVID-19 and recently took to Instagram to ask fans to pray for him. To make matters even more complicated, he suffered from asthma and had problems with his kidneys.
The star had been in a New York hospital for weeks before friends told TMZ that he had died from the virus. Billboard added that on Wednesday he was in the Intensive Care Unit with a 105 degree temperature and poor kidney function.
His best friend and collaborator Jaquae confirmed the news via Instagram on Thursday (April 23).
Sleep in peace my brother. You’ll never be forgotten. LOVE U MAN. I have so much things to say but I’m lost right now.

Fred The Godson left behind a wife, LeAnn Jemmott, and two children.
LeAnn had been keeping fans updated on his condition and there were reportedly recent signs he was improving but according to his wife, the initial prognosis was grim.
She told News 12,
It was just like — he’s gone and he’s gonna die, that’s it. I don’t even know how I felt, I just felt like I was going to die.
