Today, Swishahouse founder Michael “5000” Watts succumbed to a fatal heart rhythm condition called torsades de Pointes, leading to sudden cardiac arrest. He leaves behind his wife, Tammie Watts, five children, and two grandchildren.
When he founded Swishahouse in 1997, he played a pivotal role in popularizing Houston’s chopped-and-screwed sound and elevating the careers of artists like Paul Wall, Slim Thug, Mike Jones, and Chamillionaire. The label became a cornerstone of Southern hip-hop throughout the 2000s.
May he rest in peace and his legacy continue to be remembered!
