18 years ago today, we lost one of the most influential voices from the South named Chad “Pimp C” Butler. As one-half of the legendary Rap group UGK alongside Bun B, Pimp C reshaped Southern Hip-Hop with unfiltered honesty, soulful beats, and an unmatched spirit that remains irreplaceable.

Pimp C was found dead in his hotel room with a coroner’s report attributing his death to complications from his heavy consumption of lean and pre-existing sleep apnea.

May he rest in peace and his legacy continue to be remembered!
