Two days after the death of DJ Unk, his wife has revealed the cause of his passing.
Sherkita Long-Platt confirmed to TMZ that the Atlanta artist died in his sleep on January 24. Long-Platt also claimed that DJ Unk had suffered a heart attack.
She also addressed rumors circulating about DJ Unk’s possible involvement with substance abuse, clarifying that he had not struggled with drugs.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, she wrote: “Please respect me and my family. I just lost my husband and my kids just lost their father. Our life will never be the same. I LOVE YOU ANTHONY FOREVER.”
DJ Unk’s former record label, Big Oomp Records, also issued a statement following his death.
“It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we announce the passing of a true ATL legend, Anthony Platt better known as DJ Unk,” an Instagram statement read. “On behalf of Big Oomp Records and the BOR Family, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the countless fans who were touched by his artistry and spirit.”
DJ Unk was best known for his early 2000s hits including “Walk It Out” and “2 Step.”
