Born Dequantes Devontay Lamar, popular rapper Rich Homie Quan has passed away due to a drug overdose.

TMZ obtained the 911 call from Rich Homie Quan’s death, and his girlfriend tells the dispatcher the rapper is not breathing and does not have a heartbeat. She also revealed he was unresponsive on a couch in their home.

“On Thursday, 5 September 2024, the Fulton County Medical Examiner was notified by Grady Memorial Hospital of the death of Dequantes Devontay Lamar,” a statement from the medical examiner reads. “An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday, 6 September 2024.”

The exact cause of the Atlanta rapper’s death remains unknown.

Lamar is father to four sons — two shared with Amber “Rella” Williams, plus two from a previous relationship.

Rich Homie Quan made his mainstream breakthrough in 2013 with the catchy tracks “Type of Way” and YG’s “My Nigga.” His debut album, “Rich As In Spirit,” was released in March 2018 and peaked at #32 on the Billboard 200 chart.

In 2014, Quan was nominated as “Best New Artist” at the BET Awards and the following year, he was nominated in the “Best Club Banger” and “People’s Champ Award” categories. He was also nominated for iHeartRadio Music Awards’ “Hip Hop Song Of The Year” in 2016.

Playboi Carti, Boosie Badazz and other artists paid tribute to the Atlanta native as news of his death spread on social media Thursday.
