It’s only been two weeks since Rihanna released her first new single in six years, and now she’s back with more.
Yesterday (November 11), marked the official release date of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and its accompanying soundtrack. The OST includes contributions from artists including Tems, Burna Boy, Stormzy, and PinkPantheress among others as well as the much-herladed return of Rihanna.
“Born Again” is a fearless anthem about persevering in the face of obstacles. Co-written by Rihanna and The-Dream alongside James Fauntleroy and producer Ludwig Göransson, “Born Again” is an ode to resilience and sacrifice in the name of love, whether for a person or a place considered home.
“I’d give my heart to this place/I’d give my soul or whatever it takes, never run away/I’ve got enough angels to storm the gates, I’m not afraid,” Rihanna sings over an intense orchestral arrangement. “And behold the brave, not have it no other away/I miss the emergence and these moments of you/The mere reflection of me, that mirror can’t change its view.”
It’s another emotional touch to the Ryan Coogler-directed sequel, which arrived in theaters on Friday (November 11), over two years after the death of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman.
